Children and Young People

We have a growing number of children and young people at St Mary’s. Our Sunday School meets in the church Vestry during the first part of the service for activities connected with the theme of the Sunday’s Mass, and then return to join the congregation at Communion time.

For smaller children there is an area at the back of the church with books and quiet toys.  Parents remain responsible for supervising their children during the service.

Children of any age are warmly welcome to participate in our worship. We have a thriving team of altar servers (for anyone who has made their First Communion). Full training and robes are given.

New for September!

As well as the return of Sunday School, we are introducing a new group for very young children and their parents / carers on Wednesday mornings!

We also have regular social events: recently these have included a trip to the cinema, a summer barbecue and a sponsored bike ride in a local park. The servers have an annual trip to a local restaurant. We also have stalls at the annual Christmas Bazaar and Summer Fair, helping to raise funds for the church.
